ECG Evaluation in Patients with Pneumothorax Admitted to the Emergency Department: A Three years Analysis

Objective: Pneumothorax is one of the life-threatening differential diagnoses patients presenting to emergency department (ED) with shortness breath and chest pain. The place dynamic electrocardiography (ECG) changes in diagnosis pneumothorax was not well defined. aim our study reveal clinical importance ECG pneumothorax. Methods: Between 01.04.2014 01.04.2017, 147 who applied ED take a were retrospectively examined. divided as Group 1 (with volume <20%), group 2 volume> 20%). Patient demographics, mechanism formation (traumatic or spontaneous), X ray tomographic findings, hospitalization-follow-up periods, treatment methods; derived from hospital's data recording system compared between groups. Results: 109 (74.1 %) had traumatic pneumothorax, 38 (25.8%) spontaneous (p <0.001). 21 (55.2%) cases are primary 64.6% (n=95) two groups similar terms age, hemoglobin level, GCS, number days followed, gender smoking status, (p> 0.05). When analyzed, difference found While 52.8% changes, all group-2 (100%) unusual findings = 0.004). Conclusion: condition that should be overlooked at ED. especially large size (size> 20%) remembered abnormal their ECG.
